Three ways to work with me

A sparring partner, a coach or an interim manager – on their own or combined. Often one leads to another. Even so, I keep the roles carefully separate: you always know whether I am giving you my opinion as a sparring partner or asking questions as a coach. The foundation is always the same: first-hand experience of leading software organisations, and a values-based, systemic view of how people and structures interact.

Sparring partner

An honest sounding board for the decisions you can’t delegate.

Who it’s for
CTOs, heads of engineering and IT, managing directors and leadership teams – especially when a lot is changing at once.
How it works
The subject is your organisation and your decisions. You get my experience and my opinion, and I push back when it is needed. We untangle the issues, check assumptions and prepare decisions. Typical topics: getting out of firefighting mode; priorities that stick; clear ownership across business, engineering and operations; board-level mandates such as AI or continuous delivery, where it is not yet clear whether or how they fit your area.
Format
Usually 90 minutes every two to three weeks, remote or on site. At short notice, too, when needed – for example to prepare for a board meeting. How long we work together depends on the complexity and on the result you want. We settle that when we talk.

Coaching

Get clear on what comes first – before the next crisis decides for you.

Who it’s for
Leaders who are growing into a new role, are under pressure or want to lead differently. And leadership teams that have to make decisions together.
How it works
The subject is you as a leader, or your leadership team. You get questions and structure, not ready-made answers. We clarify the values you lead by: what comes first for you when you can’t have everything at once? From that we derive decisions and next steps. My coaching is systemic: I look for the problem in how people and structures interact, not in individuals. The first concrete steps are usually clear after just two sessions. Only you can put them into practice: coaching always means homework between sessions.
Format
One-to-one or team coaching in 90-minute sessions, usually every two weeks and as a fixed package. That keeps up the momentum and lets us both plan ahead. Remote, at your premises or here in the southern Palatinate (south-west Germany) – on a walk, if you like. Coming here gets you out of the daily grind and often gives you a fresh perspective.

Interim management

I take on line responsibility – and make myself redundant again, as planned.

Who it’s for
Companies where a leadership role in engineering, product or IT is vacant or newly created – or where a department under strain needs stabilising.
How it works
I lead hands-on, with responsibility for budget, technology and organisation. I stabilise delivery, clarify roles and leadership structure, and develop a successor from within your organisation.
Format
Part-time or full-time as needed, typically for three to twelve months. Remote or on site, across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and elsewhere in the EU. I can give you references when we talk, as far as confidentiality allows.

Which one fits?

We work that out in the intro call: free, about 30 minutes by video, and it commits you to nothing. You tell me what is going on; I tell you whether I can help, and if so how.
